Hattery, a 21-year-old Mesa native, enrolled at GCU in the autumn of 2022 as an honours student, intending to study business and behavioural health science. His mother says he’s a superb cook, and that he’s previously graduated from culinary school.

For most of his academic career, Zarren has been an honours student. The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) was his school of choice.

He placed third in the Mise en Place competition and second in the Culinary Arts STAR event at a conference while attending the vocational school that provides job training programs.

He was born in Mesa, to Moni and Maiston Hattery. Moni shares updates on her son on social media on a daily basis, including his time in elementary school and college.

Meanwhile, GCU has been shaken by reports of a student death. There have been reports of a dead student discovered in their dorm.
